African giants up next for Pitso Mosimane?
South Africa’s most decorated coach Pitso Mosimane may just be in the frame for a come back into coaching.
Mosimane has been out of a job since leaving his post at now relegated Saudi side Abha Club.
He last coached in Saudi Arabia
Mosimane came in on a short-term deal, with half the season to go. After many ups and downs which included heavy defeats to Al-Nassr and Al Ahli he took it to the last day. On the Saudi Pro League finale, Abha entered already above the relegation zone. All the team needed to do to stay alive, was to either win or draw, depending on the other results. It seemed as if the stars were aligning as their final opponent was the already relegated Al Hazm.
In the end, the relegation struggle would prove to tough a task for Mosimane and his Abha side to conquer. Since then, he has been back home working within his schools academy program while waiting for his next gig. According to the latest reports from KickOff.com, African giants Raja Club Athletic are now interested in his services!
Raja now interested in Mosimane’s services?
“According to WinWin.com, reigning Moroccan champions Raja Athletic Club are considering appointing the 60-year-old. This comes after the club sacked Bosnian coach Rusmir Cviko on 26 September, just three games into the 2024/25 Botola Pro Inwi season. Cviko was appointed as Josef Zinnbauer’s replacement in July, but defeats against RS Berkane and Ittihad Tanger in his first three league matches sealed his fate. Raja are said to have set out a list of criteria for their next managerial appointment, which reportedly makes Mosimane a contender for the role.It is claimed Raja’s board of directors want a coach with sufficient experience in African competitions to lead the team in the CAF Champions League.” Said the cited article.
Mosimane has recently reiterated his hopes of coaching a national team as his next gig. Should he take on the take on the task at Raja? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
