Nabi wanted to sign Kaizer Chiefs striker in 2022

Kaizer Chiefs striker Ranga Chivaviro was one of the best strikers in South Africa and the continent. Nasreddine Nabi wanted his signature.

KAIZER CHIEFS: NASREDDINE NABI WANTED TO SIGN RANGA CHIVAVIRO

With 18 goals for his former club, Marumo Gallants, in the Betway Premiership and CAF Confederation Cup, Nabi, then the head coach of Young Africans, wanted to sign Chivaviro, but the 31-year-old from Ga-Kgapane, Limpopo, moved to Kaizer Chiefs instead.

“Ranga… you know, it’s true [I tried to sign him] at that moment I had Fiston Mayele, and I knew he was going to leave and we looked [for strikers] and in CAF, we played Marumo Gallants, he had two very good games,” the Kaizer Chiefs coach said via iDiski Times.

“I think for that [performances] Kaizer Chiefs signed him, because his agent talked and said no, no, go to [Chiefs] not Tanzania.

“Yes, I know there’s progress, but Ranga needs to work more, more confidence, specific work in the finishing. I think he’s made progress but he needs another striker with him, because if there’s two you progress more,” the Kaizer Chiefs tactician added.

KAIZER CHIEFS COACH NASREDDINE NABI ON EDSON CASTILLO

It seems like Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has hinted at a major message to Edson Castillo.

Speaking to the media after giving Castillo his first start last weekend in the 2-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns, coach Nabi said the 30-year-old Venezuelan can’t be given too many opportunities.

“Castillo last season started good, but he went down [in his performances] that is the statistics, maybe that situation impacted his morale, his confidence and after the bad time continued,” Nabi via iDiski Times.

“In this moment after the pre-season started, the real Castillo has not come back. He’s a good man, he’s a gentleman, I respect him. I helped him regain confidence in himself, step by step. I think [against Sundowns] he was better than his last game.

“I give him a chance, but there’s not many chances to give, because of the responsibility of the club, I think he’s professional, if he receives his confidence back, he will progress,” the Kaizer Chiefs mentor concluded.

Meanwhile, coach Nabi later gave his views on the surprise 85,000 fans that were witnessed for a Sundowns and Amakhosi game.

“Yes, for that I want beautiful football, not now but I think with a club like Kaizer Chiefs with a big DNA, it’s needed. If you propose beautiful football with results, I think the fans come back,” Nabi said via SABC.

I need them, I need the fans, all the players need the fans, honestly in bad and good moments, I need them but I promise the fans, step by step we will propose very beautiful football because for now we are only on 20% from what I imagine from Kaizer Chiefs [style of play],” he concluded.
