SuperSport United sign former Kaizer Chiefs striker!
SuperSport United have secured the services of former Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic, according to SABC Sport.
Nurkovic had been a free agent since his shock departure from TS Galaxy where he spent a season with them.
Just before the closing of the transfer window, SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt confirmed interest in Nurkovic.
However, at the time, Hunt wasn’t sure if SuperSport United would be able to afford the striker’s salary.
Now, with just one win in four matches this season, Hunt and the Matsatsantsa management had to make a decision.
And bringing in Nurkovic to SuperSport United made perfect sense given the type of football Hunt plays.
SUPERSPORT UNITED COACH GAVIN HUNT REUNITES WITH NURKOVIC
Hunt and Nurkovic reunite for the first time since the 2020-21 season when the duo were contracted to Chiefs.
Hunt’s stint, though, lasted for eight months as he was fired for the club’s poor performance in the league.
Now, SuperSport United could benefit from that working relationship between Hunt and Nurkovic.
Nurkovic has competition with Terrence Dzvukamanja also in the SuperSport United setup.
With nine goals in 29 competitive matches for TS Galaxy last term, Nurkovic will want to build from that with the Tshwane outfit.
A long-term injury to Bradley Grobler has made it possible for the Serbian attacker to find a new home with SuperSport United.
Grobler’s injury left Hunt’s team very thin upfront but there’s hope now with the arrival of Nurkovic.
