Time up? Nasreddine Nabi to offload Kaizer Chiefs fan favourite?
Kaizer Chiefs are starting to take shape under the leadership of new coach Nasreddine Nabi this season.
Chiefs have won two of their last opening three games, losing their last game in controversial circumstances against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Chiefs midfield settling?
Before that, the victories came against Marumo Gallants, a 2-1 victory, and a 3-1 win over AmaZulu. In those games, there has been a level of consistency in the team sheets Nabi has sent out. Having tinkered three times with his midfield, he has gone with Samkelo Zwane, Njabulo Blom and Edson Castillo as changes. One player that is yet to find the favour of the Tunisian mentor is Chiefs fan favourite Nkosingiphile Ngcobo.
According to Soccer-Laduma, Ngcobo could struggle for game time at Chiefs under Nabi this season.
“It’s tough for Mshini (Ngcobo) with coach Nabi in charge. He won’t play that much or not even play at all. The problem is his style of play. He is very slow and likes passing backwards and the coach wants fast straight forward players in the midfield. That’s what gives Mfundo (Vilakazi) and Mdu (Mduduzi Shabalala) the chance to play regularly. So, Mshini faces a bleak future at the club as things stand right now,” said the source.
Another source speaking to the same publication suggested the Ngcobo could be loaned out by Nabi at Chiefs.
Nabi wants to loan Ngcobo
“Since he (Ngcobo) still has two years remaining on his contract the best the club can do at the moment is to loan him out. So they will be working at loaning him out either in January or at the end of the season. But for playing at Chiefs, it will be very difficult as he is not in the coach’s plans,” said the source.
In the playmaking role Chiefs have the options of Gaston Sirino, Mduduzi Shabalala and Mfundo Vilakazi. Additionally a player like Mduduzi Mdantsane is also in full training and can be used in that position. Amakhosi fans do you think Ngcobo should be loaned out?
