Arsenal netted four goals without response before the home team managed to score twice.

However, Saka’s penalty, which was awarded just before half-time, ended West Ham’s hopes of a comeback.

The penalty proved to be a critical moment in the match, as Julen Lopetegui’s team intensified their efforts following two swift goals from full-backs Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Emerson Palmieri.

Saka, who had already assisted on two goals, was given the responsibility to take the penalty after captain Martin Odegaard stylishly converted an earlier one.

Despite the charged atmosphere, England’s rising star hit the net for his seventh goal of the season.

Saka’s strike hushed the home crowd, who were hoping for a surprise result.

In fact, fans captured footage that appeared to show Saka sharing a laugh with West Ham supporters as he celebrated his goal.

He even gestured for silence, placing a finger to his lips.

His other hand mimicked a talking mouth.

Arsenal ratings vs West Ham

WEST HAM and Arsenal delivered one of the most exciting London derbies in recent history on Saturday night, featuring SEVEN goals in the first half alone.

The Gunners surged to a 4-0 lead within the first 35 minutes, only for the Hammers to respond with two quick goals, including a stunning free-kick from Emerson.

Bukayo Saka’s penalty just before halftime made it 5-2, marking only the fourth time in Premier League history that seven goals were scored before the break.

A somewhat subdued second half followed, with Mikel Arteta making changes, especially with Wednesday’s clash against Man Utd at the Emirates in mind.

The result lifted the Gunners to second place in the Premier League, now trailing Liverpool by six points ahead of Sunday’s crucial matchup between the leaders and a struggling Man City.
