After observing his striker, Postecoglou opted to give him the afternoon off to recover.

Discussing Solanke’s absence from the squad before kickoff, the Australian coach, 58, stated: “He came in today and didn’t seem well.

“He was feeling unwell, so we sent him home.

“We hope for a swift recovery and that he’ll be ready for the next match.”

Solanke played the entire 90 minutes as Tottenham drew 2-2 with Roma in the Europa League last Thursday.

The new signing has netted four goals in 10 Premier League matches this season.

Additionally, he has scored two more goals in European competitions.

Postecoglou was also missing long-term injured player Richarlison, with Son Heung-min taking the role of central forward.
