George Russell Alleges Max Verstappen Threatened to Crash Into Him and ‘Put My Head Through the Wall’

GEORGE RUSSELL has made a startling revelation, claiming that Max Verstappen said he would “put his head in the f***ing wall” during the Qatar event.

The escalating feud between the British driver and the Red Bull racer has turned into a full-blown controversy ahead of this weekend’s season finale in Abu Dhabi.

The conflict ignited during the last race in Qatar when Verstappen was penalized with a one-place grid drop for driving “unnecessarily slowly” and blocking Russell during qualifying.

Despite securing pole position in his debut race as a four-time world champion, Verstappen had to commence the race from second place, although he ultimately won.

Russell remarked: “I’ve known Max for a long time, and I understand what he is capable of. He told me he intends to deliberately crash into me and put my f***ing head in the wall.

“I recognized that was a bit of a heated moment, but when I approached him the next day during the driver’s parade, I saw in his eyes that he meant it.

“He is a four-time world champion, and when I weigh his actions against Lewis Hamilton, Lewis represents the kind of world champion I aspire to emulate. He competes fiercely against Max in 2021, but always played fair and remained within the lines.

“I have an eight-year-old nephew who has just started go-karting, and he watches all my races.

“For a world champion to claim he’s going to intentionally crash into someone and put their head in the wall is not the kind of role model we should have.”

This season, Verstappen has been embroiled in several altercations, including one in Budapest in July, where he collided with Hamilton and clashed with his own team over team radio.

Russell continued: “The moment he no longer has the fastest car, like in Budapest, for instance. He crashed into Lewis, berates his entire team, and loses control.

“Immediately after that race, 25 percent of his engineering crew started sending their CVs to Mercedes, McLaren, and Aston Martin because they felt they couldn’t handle someone like him.”

“Lewis confronted him in 2021, and Lewis lost that championship unfairly. If circumstances were reversed, just imagine how Michael [Masi] would feel.”

Verstappen has doubled down on his criticism of the Mercedes driver, labeling him a “backstabber” and a “loser.”

The Dutchman further accused the Mercedes racer of “lying” to sway the stewards’ decision against him.

Verstappen stated: “No [I have no regrets]. I meant every word. I’ve never experienced such treatment from the stewards.

“I found his behavior to be completely unacceptable.

“It has nothing to do with him being the head of the drivers’ association [Grand Prix Drivers’ Association, of which Russell is a director]. He clearly lied about what he was doing, and undoubtedly influenced the stewards.

“He’s a backstabber. It’s best not to waste time discussing people like that, because they are mere losers.”

Mercedes chief Toto Wolff interrupted Russell’s press conference to label Christian Horner a “yapping little terrier” after the Red Bull team principal denigrated the Brit as “hysterical.”

SunSport has reached out to the FIA for a statement regarding Russell’s claims, but no response has been received as of yet.
