Jimmy White Eliminated from Snooker Shoot Out by Former Champion After Uncharacteristic Mistake
JIMMY WHITE has experienced everything in his impressive five-decade career as a snooker player.
Yet, nothing can match the heartbreak of losing all six of his World Championship finals.
At 62, White made what he described as “schoolboy errors,” including a mistake that is almost unseen in professional snooker, resulting in a “devastating” loss.
To make matters worse, a peculiar blunder enabled Thepchaiya Un-Nooh to rally back and eliminate the Whirlwind in the Snooker Shoot Out.
The dynamic Thai player previously claimed victory in this rapid-fire tournament five years ago.
This knockout event consists of single frames lasting a maximum of 10 minutes, which perfectly suits Un-Nooh’s style.
The Shoot Out demands quick thinking and cue control, often leading to unpredictable outcomes.
That’s how it unfolded in White‘s matchup against the speedy 39-year-old opponent.
Un-Nooh had given White an opening after mishitting a shot set up by a well-executed red pot.
However, after establishing a 30-19 lead, White made two significant blunders — the second being particularly strange for a player of his caliber.

Initially, while attempting a safety shot on a touching ball, he accidentally potted the blue.
Following that, White returned to the table looking to make what appeared to be an easy shot on a red.
Unfortunately, he grazed the cue ball before taking the shot, leading to a second foul in quick succession.
These blunders not only embarrassed White but also left Un-Nooh in a strong position.
Un-Nooh then concluded the match with a victory of 75-30 in front of an occasionally rowdy crowd at Leicester’s Mattioli Arena.
Despite this setback, White believes he is “playing really well” and is eager to continue his legendary career.
The fan favorite joked to Eurosport: “I’m nearly in my 40s… [(but] I’m enjoying it so I’ll keep playing.”
