Conor McGregor Battles Neighbors and Local Council Over His Luxurious Mansion Featuring Twin Basements, Pool, and Home Theater
CONOR McGregor is determined to proceed with his plan for a sprawling mega-mansion that is FIVE times larger than the existing building it will replace, despite objections from the local council.
The MMA icon has responded to Kildare County Council’s objections regarding his application to build a six-bedroom opulent residence with an outdoor swimming pool in the scenic Straffan region of County Kildare.
McGregor’s new estate will be five times larger than the property it will replace.
It will encompass an impressive 3073 square meters, in contrast to the existing 605 square meters.
The UFC star aspires to develop two substantial basements—one beneath the house featuring an indoor pool, cinema, gym, sauna, jacuzzi, and treatment room, along with a separate basement for a games room, bar, and car parking.
The original structure has been in a state of demolition and disarray, left as rubble for the past two years.

Kildare County Council has raised concerns regarding the project’s scale and the lack of a clear sewage management plan.
In July, the council reached out to McGregor’s team, Tyler Owens Architects, requesting clarification on several issues within a six-month timeframe.
With only six days left, they submitted revised plans and reports.
While McGregor’s team has conducted additional tests regarding wastewater concerns, he remains steadfast in his commitment to the enormous size of the mansion.
The council requested justification for such a massive development, citing that the “design and scale of the proposed replacement dwellings contradict the character of the surrounding rural environment due to their length, mass, and scale.”
In the updated Design Statement, McGregor’s team has opted not to scale back the project, stating that their design “reflects a thorough response to the [council] requirements” and aims to “prioritize harmony with the rural landscape.”
McGregor received initial approval from Kildare County Council in 2021 to partially demolish and extend the existing residence.
After beginning the demolition, McGregor decided to pursue complete approval for tearing down the entire house to accommodate his “growing family needs and desires”.
Both Conor McGregor’s representatives and the council have been approached for comments.
