INIS OIRR (2.25 Musselburgh, nap)
He is set to defend his Edinburgh National title. He has a liking for this quirky track and possesses enduring stamina. This has likely been his goal for some time, and he runs off the same mark as last year when considering his rider’s claim.
MONSIEUR BEAULIEU (2.05 Lingfield, nb)
He demonstrated notable speed when winning over this course and distance last time, and the 4lb increase in the weights gives him a solid chance to follow up under Hollie Doyle.
HAMSIYANN (3.00 Musselburgh, treble)
He looked poised for another victory when scoring at Cheltenham last time. He surged up the hill, so this extra mile should hold no fears. Despite a 10lb rise, he still carries a fair weight and can improve further for Tony Martin.

MUSSELBURGH
1.55
ASTA LA PASTA has been reliable since moving to fences and was close in a tougher race than this at Kempton last time.
He’s still on a reasonable mark and enjoys this distance.
Alien Storm had some reserve when winning at Plumpton and is only 2lb above that victory.
He stays well and will appreciate the ground, making him the main challenger.
Insurrection appears capable of better than his previous performances, receiving assistance from the handicapper.
Choose A Copper has undergone a wind operation which may assist Lucinda Russell’s contender.
2.25
INIS OIRR can successfully defend his Edinburgh National title. He has an affinity for this unique track and possesses stamina.
This has likely been his aim for an extended period, competing off the same mark as last year with regard to his rider’s claim.
It’s a competitive field, but he has a good chance for Lucinda Russell.
She also has Cadell, who is dropping down from Grade 2 levels and appears to be a stayer.
King Turgeon has won three solid contests in succession before finishing third at Wincanton last month.
He has ample stamina and remains on a fair mark, even with top weight.
Anglers Crag triumphed in the Eider, so he won’t lack for stamina, while Surrey Quest placed second in the Scottish National and should be considered.
3.00
HAMSIYANN seems well-placed to secure another victory after winning at Cheltenham last time.
He surged up the hill, and this added mile should pose no challenge.
Despite a 10lb rise, he sits at a reasonable weight and can still improve for Tony Martin.
Another Irish contender, Samui, looks like a serious threat after an impressive win at Thurles last time.
He was a stayer on the Flat, so the step up in trip could suit Gordon Elliott’s six-year-old well.
Doyen Quest is experienced over this distance and won comfortably at Cheltenham two races back.
He couldn’t replicate that performance last time but should be in contention.
Pyffo has been consistent and finished a reputable second over this trip at Doncaster recently.
3.35
THISTLE ASK, a former useful hurdler, returned from a 20-month layoff with a promising first chasing effort at Ayr.
He’s had a short break since then and is well-graded to be competitive under Ryan Mania.
Chapel Green won comfortably in his last outing here in November.
He’s 8lb higher in weights now but should again be in contention.
Hold On To The Line could offer value for a place given his last performance chasing home Chapel Green.
Grain D’Oudairies had a chance to figure in the finish but suffered a late fall at Wetherby last time.
