KSI Reveals Replacement for Wayne Bridge in Misfits Boxing After Former Chelsea Star Withdraws Due to John Terry Remark
KSI has revealed the new opponent for Wayne Bridge at the upcoming Misfits event.
The ex-Chelsea, Manchester City, and England left-back was set to face the YouTuber in the ring on March 29.
After the two met face to face at Misfits 20, where KSI made a harsh comment regarding Bridge’s past relationship with Vanessa Perroncel.
Bridge, 44, subsequently announced that the fight was OFF, stating that the “deeply personal remarks crossed a line.”
In spite of this, KSI has successfully found a substitute for the match.
Following a delay in the announcement from 5pm to 6pm, it was confirmed on both the YouTuber’s and Misfits Boxing social media accounts that Dillon Danis would be stepping in.
In 2010, it was reported that John Terry, a former teammate of Bridge, had an affair with Vanessa the previous year, although the ex-model has consistently denied these claims.
KSI mocked: “Wayne Bridge, aren’t you the guy who let John Terry mess with your ex? That’s what you’re known for.”
He then sang: “Vanessa Woah, she jumped on Terry’s d***, it made the big boy feel sick.”
KSI proceeded to push the former footballer in the chest, while Bridge was restrained by three security guards.
Bridge – who famously declined to shake Terry’s hand after the public scandal – initially seemed to brush off the comments, responding on Saturday night: “I think that’s just him, innit?”
“It’s the cameras, what he does, put him in a room alone and he probably won’t act like that; something could happen.”
However, the former international with 36 caps stated: “I’m sure many have seen what transpired on Saturday night at the Misfits Boxing event.
“First off, I think it’s crucial to explain my reason for accepting the fight. I always enjoy challenging myself. This seemed like a fantastic opportunity to face an intriguing opponent on a prominent platform.
“I have always embraced boxing as part of my regular training routine. I was fully ready to train diligently and enjoy the experience.
“Naturally, I anticipated some backlash, but what was said on Saturday crossed a line.”
“These are personal issues that impact my family and other families involved in this situation. I prioritize being a family man.
“My opponent is someone many children admire worldwide, including my kids. I hope that one day he reflects on this differently.”
“I personally prefer not to engage in such exchanges. I will no longer be participating in the fight on March 29. I am still on the lookout for my next major challenge, and I have exciting plans for 2025.”
“Thank you for all the support; it has been overwhelming. I want my friends and family to know how special they are. Deep down, I know this is the right decision.”
Supporting Bridge’s choice to withdraw was fellow ex-footballer Danny Simpson, who drew in his Misfits Boxing debut last year. He tweeted: “Disrespecting the ballers. Can’t be having that @KSI @MamsTaylor 😡🥊 @MisfitsBoxing.”
