Pep Guardiola Receives Touchline Ban Following Booking During Man City’s FA Cup Victory Over Bournemouth

PEP GUARDIOLA has received a touchline ban following his booking in the match against Bournemouth.

The Manchester City manager orchestrated a remarkable comeback after trailing 1-0 at halftime, with Erling Haaland and bench sensation Omar Marmoush netting to turn the match in their favor.

This victory secured a place for City in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley, where they will face Nottingham Forest, aiming for their third consecutive final in the tournament.

In fact, this season marks a historic seventh consecutive semi-final appearance for Guardiola’s team.

During the second half of the match, referee Stuart Atwell issued a yellow card to the Spanish coach for arguing with the officials.

This incident occurred when Guardiola expressed frustration after Haaland went down injured in the second half due to a challenge by Lewis Cook.

Despite Haaland signaling for a substitution, Bournemouth continued play, eliciting an intense response from City, with Kevin De Bruyne confronting Cook as Guardiola made his displeasure known.

Guardiola, 54, had already received bookings against Arsenal and Fulham earlier this season.

His latest booking means he will be absent from the touchline during City’s upcoming Premier League match against Leicester City on Wednesday.

Additionally, City may also be without Haaland, who was forced off the field after appearing to injure his knee.

The Norwegian striker, who has now netted 30 goals across all competitions this season, was later seen leaving the Vitality Stadium wearing a protective boot and using crutches.

When questioned about the seriousness of the injury, Guardiola commented: “I don’t know yet.

“I saw him on the massage table, but I didn’t speak with him or the doctors. We will have to see.”

Haaland had previously missed two matches due to a knee injury earlier in this campaign but has otherwise maintained an impressive goal-scoring record.

City are preparing for the revamped Club World Cup this summer, with Guardiola eager to move past a disappointing 2024/25 season.

However, he stated that his squad would not be deserving of the £100million prize money available due to their lackluster Premier League title defense.

Guardiola remarked: “We don’t deserve it this season. We don’t deserve a bonus this season. The bonus, if you win, I don’t know how much.

“You go there, (winning) it’s for the club. The managers, the backroom staff, the players we don’t deserve, not even a watch.”
