Arsenal Transfer Updates LIVE: Noni Madueke CONFIRMED, Gyokeres ‘moving towards Gunners MEDICAL’, Bayern enters chase for Eze

Look who’s xhak

Granit Xhaka might be making a surprising £10million comeback to the Premier League.

The 32-year-old ex-Arsenal player from Leverkusen is in the sights of newly-promoted Sunderland as they aim to bolster their chances of survival.

The Black Cats are prepared to offer the Swiss international midfielder a three-year deal to draw him to the Stadium of Light.

Although Xhaka has three years remaining on his contract with the German club, he could be permitted to leave this summer.

Sunderland has already invested £110m in six new signings to gear up for their return to the Premier League.

The highly-experienced Xhaka aligns with the type of player manager Regis Le Bris hopes to recruit to help guide his youthful squad.

Medical day

Arsenal has scheduled a medical examination for Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres, and it’s reportedly happening today!

The Gunners have already secured the signings of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, and Christian Norgaard this summer, while Chelsea winger Noni Madueke and Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera are nearing confirmation as new Arsenal players.

Arsenal has been negotiating for weeks to sign a new striker, with sporting director Andrea Berta in talks for both Gyokeres and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

Ultimately, they identified Gyokeres as their top target, but negotiations have stalled recently as Arsenal and Sporting have struggled to agree on a transfer fee.

Record signing

The first £1m transfer in women’s football has occurred as Canada forward Olivia Smith finalizes her historic move from Liverpool to Arsenal.

The 20-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the European champions, and while the fee is officially undisclosed, multiple sources indicate it marks the first-ever transfer to exceed £1m, as reported by the Guardian last week, marking a significant milestone for the sport.

The previous record was set at $1.1m (£890,000) when Chelsea acquired US center-back Naomi Girma in January.

Out of the ox

However, former Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain currently has no contract on the table.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, 31, joined Turkish giants from Liverpool in 2023 but struggled to make an impact, primarily due to injuries.

According to Yeni Safak, the Istanbul club terminated the versatile midfielder’s contract after providing him a considerable severance package.

The same source reports that Besiktas paid £1.2million to release the former England international.

This option proved more cost-effective than covering the remainder of the former Arsenal star’s salary.

Eager Ethan

In case you missed it, Ethan Nwaneri is on the verge of signing a lucrative new contract with Arsenal.

The attacking midfielder’s current deal with the Gunners is set to expire next summer.

There were concerns that the teenager might depart the Emirates on a free transfer, as discussions regarding a new contract had yet to yield results.

However, according to The BBC, the 18-year-old is about to finalize a new four-year agreement with the north London club.

Nwaneri is expected to receive a substantial pay increase following this new contract.
