Fassi Seizes Opportunity as Fullback Battle Heats Up
Springbok fullback Aphelele Fassi is thrilled to take the field in front of the “unique” Mbombela crowd against Georgia this Saturday, aiming for an unbeaten finish in the Castle Lager Incoming Series.
The Springboks are anticipating a tough contest against their opponents while eagerly looking forward to the vibrant atmosphere at Mbombela Stadium.
The last time the Springboks played at this venue was during the closing match of their successful Castle Lager Rugby Championship campaign last year.
“It’s fantastic to play on this field,” Fassi, who made his Test debut against Georgia in 2021, remarked.
“The supporters in Mbombela are incredible, and their passion for rugby is unmatched. This place holds a significant meaning for me.”
Fassi expressed his teammates’ sentiments regarding the upcoming challenge against Georgia, emphasizing the team’s commitment to continually elevate their performance standards this weekend.
When asked what the Bok supporters can expect, the dynamic back stated: “Naturally, I aim to enhance my skills, but always within the team’s framework. It’s great to have the freedom from our coaching staff to truly understand the game.”
Reflecting on his growth over the past few years, Fassi added: “I frequently consider ways to enhance my abilities and demonstrate that I can accomplish things beyond others. I also enjoy playing what the game presents and thinking about how to involve my teammates within the structure.”
The match kicks off at 17:10 and will be shown live on SuperSport.
