Bowen looked downcast after the match but approached the travelling Hammers fans to show his appreciation for their support.

However, he reacted negatively to a remark made by a supporter, attempting to scale the advertising board to confront him.

Goalscorer Tomas Soucek, along with a steward, had to hold back Bowen in that moment.

A visibly furious Bowen then removed his captain’s armband after receiving comfort from his teammates before heading towards the tunnel.

The confrontation quickly became a trending topic among West Ham fans on social media.

One commented on X: “Bowen [is] now arguing with the fans. The club is finished, isn’t it?”

Another added: “It’s alarming to see Bowen approaching the fans.”

And yet another said: “Bowen should be the last one our stupid fan base targets.”

Bowen quickly took to Instagram following the incident to apologize to fans.

He shared: “Apologies to the fans for my reaction tonight.

“I’m a passionate person who fights for every moment I step on the pitch.

“However, I need to set a better example; you all know how much I adore you and this club!

“We stick together through tough times, and I’ll see you on Sunday.”

The loss at Molineux marked West Ham’s third defeat of the season.

Graham Potter’s squad has struggled defensively this campaign, allowing a staggering ELEVEN GOALS.

The Hammers will aim to bounce back from their cup disappointment this Sunday when they visit the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest.
