Ouaddou Commends Pirates for Defeating Orbit College

Orlando Pirates’ coach Abdeslam Ouaddou is optimistic about the team’s progress but acknowledges the need for improved consistency following their 1-0 win against Orbit College at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday.

The Buccaneers had a rocky start to the season, suffering defeats in their first two matches against Sekhukhune United and Marumo Gallants.

However, they managed to recover with a victory over Stellenbosch last week at Orlando Stadium, and they maintained this momentum with another win against Orbit.

“We need to maintain possession and generate opportunities, but despite creating chances today, we need to demonstrate more consistency in front of goal,” Ouaddou stated on SuperSport TV post-match.

Although the team’s finishing remains a concern, Ouaddou was encouraged by the clean sheet, believing it will bolster his players’ confidence.

“The highlight for me today is that we secured a clean sheet, which boosts the players’ confidence, and we should replicate the second-half performance in upcoming matches.”

Ouaddou also commended his team’s display in the second half, suggesting it reflected the playing style he aspires to implement.

“I envision us playing like we did in the second half against Mamelodi Sundowns,” he added.

This recent victory has propelled the Pirates to seventh place in the Betway Premiership, accumulating six points from four games.

The Moroccan coach expressed his respect for Orbit, stating they presented a formidable challenge.

“I’m truly pleased with the win, and I commend the boys; it’s challenging to perform like this after such a demanding game versus Mamelodi Sundowns,” he remarked.

“We need to explore additional strategies, and it was particularly tough, especially in the first half, but we managed to adapt.”

“I also want to congratulate Orbit College for a tough match; it has become evident that in the PSL, no team should be underestimated.”

Pirates aim to extend their winning streak as they prepare to face Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.
