According to calculations from Zurich, Premier League teams alone contributed £2.38 billion of the global total of £7.28 billion spent during the transfer window, which opened on June 1 and closed on Monday.
FIFA stated that the men’s football market “continues to showcase extraordinary levels of activity and expenditure.”
The governing body reported that nearly 12,000 international transfers were finalized in the summer window, with spending increasing over 50 percent compared to 2024 figures.
FIFA affirmed: “England has solidified its standing as the foremost global investor in talent, committing the highest amount ever by a single association.”
“In terms of incoming transfers, England, Portugal, and Brazil claimed the top three spots.”
With more than 1,100 deals finalized, the growth of the women’s game was also acknowledged by FIFA, reaching a record total of £9.2 million spent, a third of which was contributed by teams in the USA, followed by Germany and England.
FIFA legal chief Emilio Garcia Silvero commented: “We have witnessed a transfer market in full motion in both men’s and women’s football.”
“While this is a significant development in men’s football ahead of the World Cup, the rising figures in women’s football transfers are equally notable, confirming the rapid growth of the women’s game at the club level.”

The significant number of transfers this summer led to a new record for global club spending.
Unsurprisingly, the Premier League had the five largest transfers of the window.
Alexander Isak’s deadline day exit from Newcastle to Liverpool topped the list, with Liverpool paying £130 million for the Swede after also spending £116 million and £69 million on Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike, respectively.
Benjamin Sesko’s £66 million transfer to Manchester United, which could potentially rise to £74 million with add-ons, marked the fourth largest transfer of the summer.
The fifth position was held by Bryan Mbeumo’s £65 million transfer from Brentford to Old Trafford.
French Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga occupied the second and third spots in spending this summer.
The 18 clubs in the French top division splurged £943 million on new players.
Germany’s clubs collectively spent £928 million to strengthen their teams.
Serie A and La Liga rounded out the top five, with clubs in both leagues spending £659 million and £564 million, respectively.
