Arsenal’s William Saliba Set for Up to Five Months Out After Exiting Injured Against Spain

WILLIAM SALIBA is believed to be facing up to FIVE MONTHS out of action due to a severe back injury sustained while representing his country at the World Cup.

The Arsenal star collapsed in pain during the first half of France‘s semi-final loss to Spain on Tuesday.

Saliba, 25, has been struggling with ongoing and painful back problems for several months.

The center-back reportedly told his defensive partner Dayot Upamecano: “I can’t endure this anymore, my back is done.”

And it’s now being reported that he may miss the first THREE MONTHS of the 2026/27 season.

L’Equipe indicates that the defender could remain sidelined for “four to five months” following surgery.

Saliba has not publicly commented on his injury, which he acknowledged was a concern before the tournament.

He stated: “I’ve had minor issues for several months.

“I’ve been pushing through because of the Champions League and Premier League.

“However, the coaching staff has managed it effectively.

“The World Cup comes only once every four years, so you have to endure.

“I’m not at my best, but there are many players who are also not at their best.

“There’s no room for excuses.”

This news is a significant setback for Gunners manager Mikel Arteta, who counted on his team’s defensive reliability to help them secure Premier League success last season.
