Stared at me as if I’d just spiked his cat

NATHAN JONES expressed that a linesman stared at him as if he had “volleyed his cat” after he protested an offside decision on Wednesday night.

The Charlton manager was outraged that Tyreece Campbell was flagged offside after scoring from Oliver Skipp‘s through-ball in a goalless draw against QPR at The Valley.

Bhupinder Gill was the linesman who faced Jones’ ire after the contentious call went in favor of the visitors.

Jones unleashed another tirade against him during a memorable post-match interview.

Jones told Sky Sports: “They were calling offsides left and right.

“We had one offside that definitely wasn’t. The goal was a fantastic effort from a brilliant counter-attack, it’s onside, and it’s cost us three points again.

“The arrogance of the linesman is unbelievable; he looked at me as if I had just volleyed his cat. He seemed to think I had done something wrong and just shook his head.

“He made the biggest mistake of the night and cost us the game. That’s the nature of the Championship; it can be brutal.”

Hot-tempered Jones, 53, has gained a reputation for his animated interviews across his stints with Luton, Stoke, Southampton, and now Charlton.

This midweek outburst was his second in just a few days.

He also criticized referee Robert Madley after Charlton’s 4-0 defeat at Stoke last Saturday, stating: “I’ve spoken to him.

“I’m incredibly disappointed with my team’s performance, but I’m equally frustrated with the officiating.”

Charlton currently sits in fifth place in the Championship, having recorded three wins, two draws, and one loss in their first six matches.

They will face Portsmouth on Saturday before heading to Cardiff as the international break approaches.
