Snooker Star Unexpectedly Becomes ‘Sex Icon’ After Video of His Leg Over at UK Championship Goes Viral with 5 Million Views

CHRIS WAKELIN has unexpectedly risen to fame as a “sex icon” on TikTok after his BUM gained popularity when he stretched over a UK Championship table.

After the viral moment, which was viewed by more than FIVE MILLION PEOPLE, the potter quipped that he should get a “sponsors’ logo on my a* for the next season!”

After his first-round victory against Matthew Selt last Monday, a video showing him stretching over the table to pot a ball circulated on social media.

Accompanied by music from American singer Sabrina Carpenter, who sings the line: “Have you ever tried this one?”, it humorously relates to a different sexual position she references during her concerts.

It’s all in good fun, and kudos to Wakelin for being such a great sport about this unexpected attention.

Chuckling, Wakelin, 32, remarked: “I was at the pub with my friend, enjoying a few beers.

“Then this video popped up on my phone. Apparently, I’m a sex icon on TikTok – with my a* in the air.

“I thought, well, that wasn’t the plan for this week; that wasn’t how I expected to make headlines. Whoever posted it, thanks. Thanks a lot. It was actually pretty cool.

“At my age, I’m not really the target demographic for TikTok, so it took me a while to figure out what was happening.

“I had never even heard of this song before. I didn’t know who Sabrina Carpenter was until now!”

Before his 6-2 loss in the second round to Kyren Wilson, Wakelin was introduced to the arena by snooker MC Rob Walker as a “social-media sensation” due to his “eye-catching gymnastics stretch across the table that had gone viral.”

Wakelin, who won the 2023 Shoot Out, added: “I bought this suit because it’s quite striking, but I didn’t anticipate it would reach that many people in such a short time.

“That’s the beauty of TikTok. Entertainment. Those reels are incredibly enjoyable.

“We probably spend too much time watching them. To be famous for a few minutes for something unrelated to snooker? Why not? It’s absolutely brilliant.

“In that fourth-frame clearance, which I didn’t complete against Kyren, when I was playing the yellow, I had my leg over the table and foot in the air.

“I thought: ‘Here we go again!’ I think I’ll take more of the same, please. It’s just good fun.

“We are out there trying our hardest to win, but if there’s additional entertainment from our actions, like my a**, then that’s great.

“It’s free publicity for me and for snooker.

“I’m actually considering getting a sponsor’s logo on my a*** for next season – that’s the part that’s most watched about me!”

“I’ve had a remarkable season. The added bonus of being on TV more often means greater exposure. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to promote our names.”

Perhaps SunSport should consider sponsoring Wakelin’s bottom for 2025 – marketing it as the one place where The Sun DOES shine!

The world No.15 – who lost in last month’s International Championship final – has earned £165,800 on the one-year list and is in great spirits as he awaits the arrival of his child with partner Lucy in February.

The potter, who began his journey in rugby, shared: “Some days I struggle to take care of myself. The idea of caring for a little baby is pretty daunting.

“But I have a wonderful, supportive girlfriend. We’ll do everything we can to be fantastic parents.

“Just look at how Kyren’s kids are turned out. Absolutely wonderful. He and his wife Sophie have done a tremendous job raising them.

“If Lucy and I can raise our kids to be even half as good, we will feel very proud.”
