Liverpool Present New Contract to Virgil van Dijk and Aim to Secure Mo Salah’s Future with a New Deal
The captain of LIVERPOOL, Virgil van Dijk, has been presented with a new contract offer, as per reports.
In addition, the Premier League leaders, currently nine points ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea, are anticipated to extend an offer for Mohamed Salah as well.
The Reds are keen to resolve Van Dijk’s future by securing the Netherlands star with a new contract.
The defender, earning £220,000-per-week, is among a group of Liverpool players at risk of departing the club on a free transfer.
Van Dijk, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Salah, currently have only a few months left on their contracts.
However, Liverpool has made an initial offer to extend Van Dijk’s tenure beyond June, according to The Athletic.
Unfortunately, the offer reportedly did not meet his expectations, and discussions regarding the value and length of a potential extension have yet to yield results.
All three are celebrated figures at Liverpool and have significantly contributed to the team’s impressive start to the season under the new management of Arne Slot.
Liverpool is also taking “concrete steps” regarding contract talks with Salah.
The future of the 32-year-old winger is a focal point among supporters and media alike.

The Egyptian star has hinted several times that his eight-year tenure at Anfield could be nearing its conclusion.
Following Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Man City, he remarked: “Honestly, that’s what’s on my mind — this is likely the last game against City I will play for Liverpool so I intend to savor it.
“The atmosphere was fantastic, so I will cherish every moment here.”
Last month, he told Sky Sports that “no offer” had been made for an extension.
The club’s ownership, FSG, has yet to agree to his salary demands, and he is aware of the lucrative offers available in the Saudi Pro League.
Salah has once again emphasized his vital role for the Reds in their title chase, increasing his season tally to 13 goals.
Meanwhile, boyhood Liverpool supporter Alexander-Arnold has also not received a contract extension offer yet.
He has been frequently mentioned in speculation about a potential move to join best friend Jude Bellingham at Real Madrid.
In theory, the 26-year-old right-back could sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in January, with his current deal set to expire in June.
Meanwhile, both Van Dijk and Salah have played every Premier League match this season, along with midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.
Salah had secured a long-term extension in 2022 amid similar concerns about his future, signing a deal worth £350,000 per week.
Liverpool currently tops the Premier League with 34 points out of a possible 39, having suffered only one defeat, which was a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.
