Zwane: We Are the Gift Givers
AmaZulu coach Arthur Zwane has recognized that their hopes of securing a top-four finish are fading.
This conclusion follows Usuthu’s third straight league loss, a 2-1 defeat against Chippa United at Buffalo City Municipality Stadium last Saturday.
In spite of this setback, AmaZulu still sits in the top eight, currently at seventh place in the Betway Premiership standings with 30 points from 24 matches.
Although Zwane had initially set his sights on a top-four finish, he now believes that their ongoing losses are putting this goal at risk.
“We were supposed to defeat Chippa and solidify our position in the top eight,” Zwane remarked.

“If you analyze the last four games we’ve played and examine the goals we’ve conceded, they are remarkably similar. Now, we’re placing ourselves under pressure because we allowed Chippa an opportunity to draw closer to us. If we don’t win the next game, we could drop out of the top eight,” he added.
“While our objective is to finish fourth, it appears that our chances are slipping away as we continue to undermine ourselves.”
He links their goals conceded throughout the season to preventable mistakes.
Usuthu has netted 27 goals but has also let in 32, resulting in a goal difference of minus five.
“We are conceding goals we shouldn’t be, due to our own errors—losing the ball easily and ultimately conceding,” he confessed.
“This has been the narrative of our season; just look at all the goals we’ve allowed. We are gifting goals to all these teams.”
Usuthu’s recent defeat was their 12th of the season, with just nine wins in 24 matches, keeping them in seventh place.
The Durban-based squad will aim to regain their winning form when they take on Richards Bay at King Zwelithini Stadium on Friday at 19:30, following their 3-1 success in their previous matchup.
