Nabi: Continued Development is Essential
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi acknowledges that while the team has had a strong start to the season, further development is essential.
Currently, Chiefs are tied at the top of the Betway Premiership table, accumulating 13 points from five matches, alongside league leaders Sekhukhune United, who are ahead on goal difference.
The Amakhosi secured their position with a narrow win against Golden Arrows at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday, delivering a dominant performance that kept Arrows largely on the defensive.
The pressure applied by Chiefs yielded results when Nabi made three substitutions around the hour mark. Two of the substitutes linked up to net the winning goal, with Gaston Sirino delivering a reverse pass to debutant Flavio Da Silva, who promptly slotted the ball into the open net.
Notably, this marks the first instance in the history of the club within the PSL where they have not conceded a goal in their opening five matches.

Despite this success, Nabi cautioned that the team has not yet reached its potential, stressing the importance of ongoing development to enhance resilience.
“You might not appreciate when I mention the process, but it’s the reality for this team,” Nabi remarked.
“I didn’t promise to secure a trophy or achieve a comeback in the first season; it’s a process with a structured approach that we are implementing.”
He further elaborated, “Winning the Nedbank Cup last season gave us a confidence boost. We’re in a favorable position this season, and while the results are promising, our game model requires more work. We must ensure that Kaizer Chiefs do not struggle against any opponent. We aim to control all our matches and secure victories with exceptional football.”
Following the FIFA international break, the Amakhosi will face Eric Tinkler’s Sekhukhune in a crucial top-of-the-table encounter at FNB Stadium on 16 September [19:30].
