Royal AM poke holes in Kaizer Chiefs’ transfer dealings!

Kaizer Chiefs suffered defeat in their opening league match the season as they were beaten 1-0 by Royal AM at Chartsworth Stadium on Saturday.

Ricardo Nascimento scored the only goal of the game in the second minute, and while Chiefs tried to come back, it wasn’t to be.

As expected, coach Arthur Zwane started the game with four of his new signings in Yusuf Maart, Ashley du Preez, Siyethemba Sithebe and Zitha Kwinika.

The quartet gave a good account of themselves, and there are signs that they will do well for Chiefs this season if given enough chance.

But while that is promising, Zwane and Chiefs still have a lot of work to do before the closing of the transfer window in September.

And that is to help them do better, and be able to compete but most importantly win games on a consistent basis.

ROYAL AM EXPOSE KAIZER CHIEFS’ WEAKNESSES

Saturday’s encounter was an eye-opener for Chiefs and Zwane, and the team’s failure to score highlighted the need for a strong No.9.

Du Preez did well as a lone striker in front of both Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly but he needs more support as he’s mobile and that’s his strength.

However, Chiefs need someone who can be able to stay in the opposition box and allow players such as Dolly, Billiat and Du Preez to get into goalscoring positions.

This has been the culture at Chiefs for years, but it has been very difficlt for the team to find a quality striker in the market.

And the defeat to Royal AM was surely a wake up call for Chiefs to step up their chase for a striker before dropping too many points this early in the season.
